BOSTON, May 29, 2018 — Please join the Boston Police Activities League (PAL) and their Board of Directors in sending out their condolences, thoughts and prayers to the Kakas Family. Long-time PAL supporter and Board Member Mary J. Kakas passed away on Thursday May 24, 2018 surrounded by family and friends.  Mary will be remembered and missed by all that knew her including everyone associated with PAL. Mary was a philanthropist and mentor to many and was the first female chief executive of the family fur company Edward F. Kakas & Sons. She sat on dozens of boards of charities and raised millions of dollars for organizations including PAL.

PAL Chairman of the Board Chip Batchelder echoed the sentiments of all those associated with PAL stating: “Mary was a strong advocate for all the work PAL does in the community bringing a culture of trust and respect between the community and the Boston Police Department – her presence will always be felt within PAL”.
