Jr. Police Academy

About the program

The Jr. Police Academy is one of many activities organized by the Boston Police Department for the young people in the City of Boston. This program is for children ages 9 to 12. It offers a weeklong program that introduces the participants to the various operational components of the Department with a visit to Police Headquarters for tours of the Identification and Ballistics Unit, trips to the Police Academy, Range, Mounted Unit, Harbor Patrol and more! We also take field trips to various City attractions like the Museum of Science.

Since the inception of the Junior Police Academy, Boston P.A.L. has partnered with the Boston Police Department by providing support for weekly field trips (Museum of Science and Zoo New England) and a McDonald’s lunch for the campers. Gift certificates to Staples and Barnes & Nobles are purchased by P.A.L. and presented to select campers at a year-end ceremony.
